Students and research assistants are trained in the Bierenstiel Group on a variety of research equipment and analytical instrumentation. The research projects are tailored for appropriate level of undergraduate students. Matthias Bierenstiel with help from postdoctoral or graduate researchers supervises the students who will be able to work independently with experiments and instrumentation. We place high emphasis on safety. The work of several projects is typically accumulated for publications with each student having an essential part. Students present at conferences such as ChemCon Atlantic Science undergraduate conference, AIDW or CSC - several have won best poster or oral presentation awards. Please follow this link for team members on Science Outreach projects.

Students who worked in the Bierenstiel Group went on to exciting careers with PhD and MSc in chemsitry, PhD in biotechnology, PhD in biomedical engineering, dentistry, medicine, pharmacy, chemical engineering, MSc in occupational therapy and physiotherapy, radiological technology and education.

Matthias Bierenstiel is always interested in excellent undergraduate students, graduate students (adjunct status with UPEI) and postdoctoral resaerchers - please feel free to contact Matthias_Bierenstiel@cbu.ca for more information.
